Tribute to Léa Bissonnette

A tribute to one of our volunteers

This year on June 4th, 5th and 6th, at the 3 pitch ball tournament, a tribute was held for one of our volunteers who, from the very first tournament many years ago, devoted her time and generosity to her community. It was with great pleasure and pride that the Lefaivre Lions honoured this very special lady, Léa Bissonnette.

Léa was a fan who never missed a game and every year greeted visitors and players to the ball park. The following is an excerpt of what was read to her at the ceremony honouring her devotion.

Today Léa, the members of the Lefaivre Lions Club ”tes p’tits” as you called us, honour you and say thank you for your loyalty and your presence at the ball tournaments year after year, rain or shine. We would like to thank you for always knowing what to do without having to ask. A special thanks for the ”convenience store” you keep in your car. For those who don’t know Léa, how few they may be, I would like to give you an idea of what is in her car… when we need a blanket, she has one, rags, she has that too, you need and umbrella? You know where to go! Léa is always ready for everything.

In closing, we would like to say thank you for everything and hope to see you for many years to come. Thank you for your presence, the time you have given us, your love of life and your sense of humour. Continue to be who your are. Your are an inspiration for all of us. We love you very much!

This text was read to her on the last day of the tournament, June 6, 2010. It is with great sadness that we learned of her death a few weeks later. We cherish her memory and she will always be in our hearts.
